Click here to Access the on-line appointment system

Patients are reminded that they can have on-line access so you can organise your medical centre activities (booking appointments or requesting repeat prescriptions) at a time that is convenient to you.

Remember that on-the-day appointments are released on-line for patients every day-so you can book your own appointment on-line rather telephone the practice during the busiest periods.  You can also book telephone aconsultations to speak to a GP about an on-going issue.  Telephone consultations are not 'Face to Face' so make sure you book the correct appointment.

Speak to a Receptionist about how to obtain an on-line account.

To promote national self care week (14th to 20th November 2016) we have provided information to support you to self care. See the SELF CARE section to the right.

 TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS

TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS WITH GPs ARE FOR 5 MINUTES AND ARE NOT FACE TO FACE APPOINTMENTS.  THESE TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS ARE BEST USED TO TALK ABOUT TEST RESULTS OR TO FOLLOW UP ON SIMPLE ISSUES.  Please DO NOT ATTEND TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS as the doctor may be working at a different location and may not be at the Practice that day.

Note about the Telephone system

The telephone system can handle more simultaneous callers in the morning when we are very busy and it will let patients know where they are in the queue. Patients can leave messages when the queries about their blood results or if they have a questions about a referral.

Blood test and other queries line: Contact the practice between 09:30 – 13:00 Monday to Friday! (Please check under 'New Services' for more details)

How our appointments system works

There are three ways to book appointments at North End Medical Centre:

1)    Phone Reception

2)    Come to the surgery and speak to a receptionist on the desk

3)    On-line, you must obtain a user name and password in order to use the on-line system. Please bring photo ID (Passport or Driving Licence) and we will print out a password and username immediately for you.  More appointments are being made available on-line and patients can also request repeat medications on line too. (see below for more information).

We have Routine Appointments which are for on-going issues including reviews, and other medical issues. These appointments are usually a week to ten days away.

For same day access we offer telephone triage phone calls and if needed the GP will arrange a face to face appointment with them.  Telephone appointments face to face appointments can be booked on the day from 8am when our phone lines open.  We also release appointments at 2pm. (Telephone appointments can also be booked on-line).

Telephone appointments may be best to review your medical issue and discuss recent test results for example.  The GP may prescribe medication for you and you will need to collect the prescription from your nominated pharmacy or reception. To nominate a pharmacy ask at reception or during your consultation.

If all the same day access appointments have been booked, we do have an duty doctor for urgent contact. This doctor is available from 8 am until 6 pm. After 6:30 pm we offer an Out of Hours Service, the number for this is 111.

Appointments after 1830 hrs during the weekday and from 8 and to 8 PM at the weekend -The Weekend Plus Service

We can offer patients appointments via a different service at three other sites in the borough for after 1830 during the weekday and from 8 AM to 8 PM at the weekend. This is called the Weekend Plus Service. Patients can ask our reception staff to book these appointments for them if and when we are unable to provide appointments within requested timescales or at a more convenient time for you.

If we are closed and you have a medical emergency you can phone 111 or go to Accident and Emergency.

Appointments at this Practice

blue_calendarDoctor appointment times vary but we generally offer appointments throughout the hours that we are open although the last appointment time is usually around 1730hrs.

Please note that you can see any of the doctors, it does not have to be the doctor you are registered with or the doctor you saw on your last visit.

We also offer a few GP appointments on Saturday between 08:00 – 10:00 strictly by appointment only.

Please be aware that if you have more than one problem to discuss in any appointment, please book a double slot to ensure you have adequate consultation time. If using an interpreter you will also require a double apointment.

Online appointment booking

To meet the needs of patients that become unwell overnight or for those that need a dressing changed or need an urgent blood test we have reserved a number of appointments released every day. These on-the-day appointments are available for booking via the internet and become available at mid-night when we move into the new day.

Please note: On-the-day and urgent appointments should not be used for requests for housing letters, sick notes or repeat prescription requests. On the day appointments are limited and we will request to understand your medical or health situation before booking it.

Also If you are unsure of who you should see have a look at the above tab for some guidance.  There is also guidance on the Online system.

Cancellations

Please make sure to give us as much notice as possible if you cannot attend an appointment in order for us to give the slot to someone else. You can also type CANCEL to reply to your SMS appointment text to cancel your apointment in advance.  If all patients cancel appointments they cannot attend then all patients wil benefit from increased availability
